1807 S-271 R1 "Comet" Obverse F15+
. Five points sharper
but there are several small rim bruises or dull rim nicks on each
side, the largest of these left of the L in LIBERTY. The surfaces
are mostly smooth but a glass reveals traces of verdigris on
each side. Rather glossy chocolate brown and steel with steel
brown toning on the devices. Impressive M-LDS, Breen state VI,
Iskra state IV. The "Comet" flaw behind the head is bold and
the other linear die flaws in the obverse fields and across the
neck are clear. A nice example of this popular "Redbook" variety.

the right top of the T in LIBERTY and a small rim dent left of the
first S in STATES. M-LDS, Breen state III, with swelling in the
field at the lower curls. Struck with the obverse die slightly mis-
aligned to K-4. The overdate is bold. Nice eye appeal in spite of
the burnished obverse fields.
