1851 N-19 R3 Second 1 Repunched MS60
. Frosty medium
brown and light chocolate with traces of slightly darker olive
and steel toning at the bottom of the reverse. No notable con-
tact marks. LDS, die state e, with several light die cracks on the
obverse. The repunching on the second 1 is no longer visible.
An attractive, lustrous cent.

graded MS64BRN

shows the attribution).

1851 N-22 R4 AU50
. Choice frosty medium brown and light
chocolate. Flowline luster covers the fields and protected areas
on both sides giving this cent outstanding eye appeal. A dull rim
nick at star 10 and another right of star 13 are the only notable
marks. M-LDS, die state b late. The strong die lines from NI in
UNITED to the dentils are dull and mixed with flowlines but they
remain visible.

.
Includes 1851 N-34 R4 MDS (b), and 1853 N-28 R3+ LDS (c)

1851 N-36 R5+ F15
. Five points sharper but recolored glossy
reddish steel brown and chocolate. No roughness or verdigris,
only light contact marks. The notable marks are a tiny rim
bruise at star 6 and a couple rim nicks at the O in OF. EDS.

1851 N-37 R4 PCGS graded AU50
. Frosty medium steel
brown with a subtle wisp of reddish brown toning on the neck.
No significant defects, only minor contact marks scattered over
the obverse. A faint hairline scratch from the center of the
cheek to the field off the bust tip is the best identifying mark.
LDS, die state c, with heavy swelling around the legend outside
the wreath.
Our grade is EF40 sharpness net VF35.

1851 N-40 R5 F15
. Attractive glossy light to medium choco-
late brown. The surfaces are smooth and offer excellent eye
appeal for the grade. The notable marks are a small rim bruise
at star 2, a shallow low spot in the field over the bust tip, and
low spots around ONE CENT. For some reason nearly all exam-
ples of this rare variety come with similar low spots, most likely
caused by grease on the dies. MDS.

. Attractive frosty
light chocolate brown. Essentially flawless, just lightly worn.
LDS, die state c, with a small rim cud break over the E in AMER-
ICA.
Our grade is EF45.
