Group of Six 1851 Cents graded VF20 to VF30
. Average
grade is VF25. Includes N-6 R1 Repunched 1's EDS (a), N-12 R1
MDS (b), N-21 R4 EDS (a, a rare die state), N-25 R3- LDS (b),
N-27 R4 M-LDS (c), and N-31 R3 MDS (b). Most are slightly
sharper with defects. Lot of 6 coins.

1851 N-7 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Brown
. Lustrous medium
steel brown with a couple tiny peeps of faded mint red remain-
ing on the reverse. A choice cent if not for a vertical stripe of
darker toning between star 10 and the hair bun (looks like plan-
chet impurity). MDS die state a late. The die lines at the inner
curl are dull but still visible.
Our grade is MS60.
The attribu-
tion is noted on the PCGS label. Comes with a nice provenance.

1851 N-8 R3 NGC graded MS65 Brown
. Frosty chocolate
brown and bluish steel. Satiny mint frost covers the fields and
protected areas on both sides. The only mark is a tiny pinprick
on the rim above star 5. MDS, die state a late. The die line over
the right side of the M in AMERICA is dull but still visible. The
lump on the upper neck is clear.
Our grade is AU58+, very
close to mint state.
Excellent eye appeal, which accounts for
the lofty grade assigned by NGC. Comes with a nice prove-
nance. The attribution and Reiver provenance are shown on the
NGC label.

1851 N-10 R1 MS60
. Lustrous steel brown and light choco-
late with faded mint red in protected areas, mostly on the
reverse. Nice eye appeal, but a glass reveals a small spot of
reddish corrosion hidden in the hair at the top of the ear. Other-
wise the only marks are a light diagonal nick midway between
star 1 and the chin and a tiny rim nick over the first T in
STATES. LDS, die state b. Both dies are worn and flowlined.

Pair of 1851 Cents, both ex Floyd T. Starr Collection
.
Includes N-17 R2 Rare EDS, die state a EF40+ net VF35 for
stains on the obverse and N-39 R3 E-MDS (a) EF45. Both are
sharply struck with glossy brown and chocolate surfaces. Lot of
2 coins.

1851 N-18 R1 AU50
. Sharpness very close to mint state but
nicely recolored frosty bluish steel brown and chocolate. No
spots, stains, or notable contact marks. Nice eye appeal in spite
of the light cleaning. E-MDS, die state b early. The short points
down from the diagonals in the N's in ONE CENT are visible.

(NGC label
#214970-003 included, and it comes with a green CAC Approval
sticker).
