. Variety
with a Vine & Bars Edge. Choice glossy dark chocolate
brown and steel. The surfaces are smooth and the only
marks are a rim bruise under the 7 in the date, a few fine

1793 S-9 R2 Wreath Cent PCGS graded XF40
. Variety
with a Vine & Bars Edge. Choice glossy medium brown and
light chocolate. Sharply struck and nicely centered on a
flawless planchet. The only defects are minor contact
marks scattered over the obverse, none notable. The best
identifying marks are two tiny pinpricks just left of the O in
ONE, but it takes a good glass to see them. MDS, Breen
state VI, with a die crack from the dentils through CA and
the stem to the ribbon and another from the fraction bar
through the tip of the ribbon to the U in UNITED. A very
nice Wreath Cent that offers excellent eye appeal.
Our
grade is VF30.

1793 S-10 R4 Wreath Cent Fair-2
. Variety with a Vine &
Bars Edge. Clipped Planchet. Sharpness at least G6 on the
obverse but the planchet is covered with light to moderate cor-
rosion mixed with planchet striations, strongest on the reverse.
Slightly glossy medium chocolate brown blending to darker
chocolate on the reverse. There are a few light scratches hidden
in the roughness but no verdigris. The 179 in the date is clear
but the 3 is quite faint. Later die state with obvious die failure at
the dentils before the face. The major feature of this cent is a
rather large curved planchet clip behind the lower half of the
portrait, as struck. Major planchet clips are rarely seen on 1793
cents.

1793 S-10 R4 Wreath Cent Basal State-1+
. Variety with a
Vine & Bars Edge. Several points sharper but covered with mod-
erate porosity. No marks or verdigris. The roughness weakens
and distorts the designs but the date remains readable as does
much of the legend on the reverse. Medium brown and light
chocolate fading to darker reddish chocolate in protected areas.
Close to Fair-2.
