marks are a planchet chip or pit in the hair at the back of the
head and a very shallow planchet flake in the dentils left of the
lower curls. M-LDS, Breen state VIII, with numerous die cracks
on the obverse. The date and legends are strong and the M

1797 S-130 R2 F12+
. Attractive glossy medium chocolate
brown and steel. No roughness, only a few trivial contact
marks. The notable marks are a short scratch near the dentils
left of the L in LIBERTY and a barely visible rim bruise over the
first S in STATES. M-LDS, Breen state IV. The internal cud break
near the dentils left of the hair ribbon is partially filled and die
clashmarks show on both sides. A nice cent for the grade, close
to F15.

covered with fine to moderate roughness under rather glossy
dark olive brown and chocolate toning. No notable verdigris or
significant contact marks; a tiny rim bruise under the tip of the

are complete and clear, and the Stemless Wreath feature is
obvious.

1797 S-131 R2 Stemless Wreath VG7+
. Glossy chocolate
brown and steel. No roughness or verdigris, only minor contact
marks. A minor rim bruise left of the date is the best identifying
mark. M-LDS, Breen state IV, with a vertical die crack in the field
before the portrait and a smaller sunken retained cud near the
dentils right of the longer crack. The date and legends are
strong and the Stemless Wreath feature is obvious. A nice lower
