1796 S-98 R4 Draped Bust VG10
. Five points sharper with
minor roughness under rather glossy light olive and chocolate
brown toning. Just a few trivial marks including a very light rim
bruise under the 6 in the date and another over the R in LIB-
ERTY. The date and legends are strong. MDS Breen state II.
Struck very slightly off center to K-9.

1796 S-100 R5 Draped Bust AG3
. Sharpness VG7 but there
are rim bumps all the way around both sides, a couple scratches
on the portrait, several more in the field before the neck and
chin, and a couple more inside the wreath. Otherwise the plan-
chet is smooth and the toning is a decent glossy light olive and
steel. Extremely rare LDS Breen state III, with a clear die crack
at TES-OF. The date is strong and the legends are clear.

1796 S-102 R4 Draped Bust G5
. Rather glossy chocolate
brown with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The only
marks are a faint scrape hidden in the hair left of the eye and a
tiny rim nick over the R in AMERICA. The date is complete and
easily readable although not strong, and the legends are read-
able. Basically just well worn. LDS, Breen state II, with a die
crack through BE into the hair.

Includes S-103 R4+ AG3, and S-104 R3 AG3. Both are a couple
points sharper with minor roughness and marks, but the dates
and LIHERTY errors are easily readable. Lot of 2 coins.

sharper but covered with uniform very fine granularity under
slightly glossy dark olive brown and steel toning. No verdigris,
and the only marks are two small rim nicks before the neck and
chin. EDS, before any obvious die rust or cracks. The date and
LIHERTY are strong and the legends on the reverse are com-
plete. The LIHERTY error is obvious to the unaided eye.

. The obverse is weaker;
the reverse stronger, perhaps a net Fair-2/G6 split. The devices
are smooth but fine roughness covers the protected areas,
especially on the reverse. No verdigris or notable contact marks.
The date is weak but readable and the legends on the reverse
are complete and easily readable. EDS with an uncracked
obverse.

. A few points sharper but
fine to moderate granularity covers the fields and protected
areas while the highpoints are relatively smooth. No verdigris,
and the notable marks are some faint old scratches hidden in
the roughness in the obverse fields and a single scratch at the
leaves over NE in ONE. Rather glossy dark steel and olive
brown. The date is bold and the legends are complete.

MDS VF20 net G5 for moderate roughness and dark toning, and

1796 S-111 R5- Draped Bust VG7
. Mostly glossy olive
brown and steel. The planchet is mostly smooth but there is
microscopic roughness in protected areas on the reverse. No
verdigris, and the only notable marks are a rim bruise over the I
in LIBERTY and a thin scratch in the field left of the hair ribbon.
LDS with a die crack that meanders through the 96 to the bust.
The date is strong and the legends are complete. Not bad for
this tough variety.
