1826 N-5 R2 PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown
. Choice
lustrous mint red fading to medium steel brown and light choc-
olate with at least 20% of the original bright mint red remaining
visible on both sides. The only marks are a very faint hairline on
the cheek, a shallow planchet flake on the truncation above the
1, and a bit of fine carbon inside the left half of the M in AMER-
ICA. MDS with a rim cud break from star 5 to star 7. A beautiful
cent in every respect. This piece is a new discovery that comes
to us from a non-collector family that inherited the cent.
Our
grade is MS63.
The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 65RB for the variety.

1830 N-1 R1 EF45+
. Frosty light to medium chocolate brown.
Mint luster covers the protected areas on both sides and this
cent offers excellent eye appeal. A small puff of darker choco-
late toning at the lower right of the date is a good identifying
mark. MDS with a die crack through star 2 to the dentils at stars
1 & 3. A nice cent,
close to AU50.
Estimated Value ..................................................... $200 - UP

1830 N-11 R5 NGC VF Details, Environmental Damage
.
Sharpness VF20 or slightly better but covered with microscopic
roughness on all but the highpoints, which are smooth. No ver-
digris and just a few marks. The notable marks are a shallow
planchet flake or pit at the dentils between the date and star
13, a scrape on the rim over the first T in STATES, and a dull rim
nick over the U in UNITED. LDS. The die crack at ATES-OF is
strong.
Our grade is net F12
. An imperfect but still decent
example of this very rare variety, in the lower end of the condi-
tion census.
Estimated Value ..................................................... $500 - UP
702
1833 N-1 R2 PCGS graded MS62 Brown
. Frosty mix of
olive brown, chocolate, and lighter brown. Traces of faded mint
color show in protected areas on the reverse. No notable marks,
but the luster is subdued by a thin layer of natural oxidation. It
looks like this cent has never been brushed. May be a good can-
didate for a little professional TLC to bring out the underlying
beauty. LDS. The lump between the T & A in STATES is gone
and the die cracks on the reverse are strong.
Our grade is
MS60. Pop 23; 72 finer at PCGS.
Estimated Value ..................................................... $600 - UP
703
1834 N-1 R1 Small 8, Large Stars, Medium Letters PCGS
graded MS62 Brown
. Frosty steel brown and light chocolate.
Mint luster shows in the protected areas. The only notable mark
is a nick on the jaw. MDS. Both side show die cracks (as always
on this variety) and the repunching inside the C in AMERICA is
dull but visible.
Our grade is AU50. Pop 16; 31 finer at
PCGS.
Estimated Value ..................................................... $350 - UP
