1856 N-22 R5 PCGS graded AU58

. Attractive frosty light to

medium brown. This cent has mint state eye appeal but there is

a bit of friction on the highpoints and some light contact marks.

The notable marks are a very light but relatively fresh pin

scratch at the lower left point of star 11 and an older one from

star 12 to star 13, plus a collection of tiny planchet flakes or

chips on the rim over star 4. Sharply struck EDS with fine diago-

nal die finishing lines covering the obverse fields, strongest

before the neck and face.

Our grade is EF45+ sharpness

net EF40

and tied for CC#6 in the Grellman census.

Removed from an NGC slab graded MS61BN

(NGC label

#394924-004 included, and it shows the attribution).
