658 Group of 16 Half Cents, 1800-1857, grading VG8 to
VF30. Average grade is F12. Some are slightly sharper with
minor defects but all have a clear date. A good mix of dates. A
decent lot worth a careful inspection. Lot of 16 pieces.

660 1806 C-4 R1 Large 6 with Stems NGC graded AU55, CAC
APPROVED. Attractive glossy medium chocolate brown and
steel with a few peeps of frosty tan and lighter brown in pro-
tected areas. Smooth and choice, just very lightly worn on the
highpoints. A long vertical nick over the A in HALF is the only
notable mark. E-MDS, Manley state 1.0. The repunching on the
6 is clear and the reverse is rotated 30 degrees clockwise from
the normal head-to-foot orientation. Our grade is AU50 . The
attribution is noted on the NGC label.

DOUBLE STRUCK 1808
661 1808 C-3 R1 G5. Glossy medium chocolate brown and steel.
The surfaces are smooth and the only notable contact mark is a
pinprick in the field close before the forehead. This piece was
struck at least two times. One strike was about 35% off center
to K-9 and this was followed by another that was centered on
the planchet but rotated slightly clockwise relative to the first.
Clear evidence of the off-center impression is visible on both
sides. In addition the planchet has a wavy appearance that is
characteristic of a half cent that was a brockage maker (struck
against another planchet in the coining chamber). An interest-
ing mint error worth a close inspection. Later die state with the
reverse rotated 150 degrees CCW. The date is strong and the
legends are mostly clear. Removed from a PCGS slab
graded G6 (PCGS label #1107.06/81793802 included).

Flowing Ha i r Cent s
662 1793 S-9 R2 Wreath Cent, Vine & Bars Edge G6. Sharp-
ness VG10 but covered with very fine roughness on all but the
highpoints of the devices, which are smooth. No verdigris and
the only notable marks are a small rim bruise under the 3 in the
date and another over the I in UNITED. The date is easily read-
able and the legends are complete. LDS, Breen state VIII. The
die crack at CA to the stem is strong and the area under CA is
badly swollen thanks to die failure in that area. A decent lower
grade example of our 1793 Wreath Cent.

CHOICE 1794 S-29
663 1794 S-29 R2 Head of 1794 F15+ . Very attractive glossy
medium brown and light chocolate. The surfaces are smooth
and this cent is choice in every respect. Very close to VF20.
The only marks are a tiny pinprick in the field close before the
eye and a small C-shaped planchet void in the field under the I
in LIBERTY (as struck). MDS, Breen state III early, with a fine
radial die crack from the dentils to the top of the R in AMERICA.
A premium example for the grade and it comes with a nice
provenance.
