1813 S-293 R2 NGC graded AU50

. Frosty olive brown with

slightly lighter chocolate brown toning on the devices. No

roughness or verdigris, only minor contact marks. The notable

ones are a pinprick on the bust, a few more in the field right of

star 2, and a very light scratch between stars 4 & 5. E-MDS,

Breen state IV (Breen' s die states II and IV are reversed), with

a fine die crack through the tops of ITED and through the bot-

toms of ED-S. The dentils are clearly defined around the entire

obverse and most of the reverse. A nice example of this Classic

Head cent.

Our grade is EF40 sharpness net VF35.

. Sharpness near EF40 but both sides

have been lightly burnished and most of the dentils on the

obverse have been skillfully strengthened. Otherwise free of

marks. Recolored glossy dark chocolate brown and steel with

traces of lighter tan in protected areas on the reverse. EDS.

. Sharpness VF35 but there are patches of

shallow corrosion and verdigris on the reverse, mostly at ON in

ONE. The only contact mark of any importance is a dull rim nick

at the top of the obverse. Frosty medium steel blending to dark

steel and olive in protected areas. MDS.

. Choice frosty medium choc-

olate brown and steel. Flowline luster covers the fields and pro-

tected areas and this cent offers outstanding eye appeal for the

grade. The only marks are a couple tiny ticks in the field over

star 1 and a few microscopic pinpricks under the ear lobe. MDS.

1816 N-2 R1 AU50

. Glossy light olive and chocolate brown

with frosty tan and golden brown faded down from mint color in

some of the protected areas. The only notable mark is a small

nick off the lower right point of star 5. M-LDS with strong rim

cud breaks from star 8 to star 11 and a smaller one between

stars 11 & 12. The repunching on the 81 is clear. An attractive

cent with just a hint of friction on the highest points of the

devices. Most likely from the Randall Hoard of mint state cents

dated from 1816 to 1820.

1833 N-2 MDS. Some are sharper with defects but all have a

clear date and legends. Lot of 6 coins.

1817 N-6 R1 MS62

. Lustrous bluish steel brown and light

olive with about 30% of the reverse showing underlying golden

tan faded down from mint color. The surfaces are covered with

satiny mint frost and this cent offers very nice eye appeal. No

spots or stains. The only marks are a couple small nicks on the

cheek and a few more in the field before the nose. Sharply

struck EDS showing clear dentils on both sides.

. Slightly sharper but there are two sharp

nicks over the NE in ONE. Otherwise this piece is quite nice and

the eye appeal remains excellent. Frosty light to medium choco-

late brown. Flowline luster covers the fields and protected

areas. MDS. Graded EF45 by Del Bland.
