. Choice
glossy medium chocolate brown and steel with a small area of
reddish chocolate toning at NIT in UNITED. Smooth and attrac-
tive for the grade, close to F12. No notable marks, roughness,

1811 S-287 R2 NGC graded AU58
. Glossy chocolate brown
and steel with flowline luster covering the fields and protected
areas on both sides. Looks choice to the unaided eye, but a
glass reveals a small spot of corrosion at the dentil tips under
both 1' s in the date and a couple more tiny ones over NE in
ONE. Each of these small spots has been smoothed to remove
the verdigris. Otherwise this cent is beautiful. MDS, Breen state
III, with a subtle bulge from the second 1 in the date through
star 13 to star 12.
Our grade is EF45 sharpness net EF40.

1811 S-287 R2 PCGS graded AU55,
CAC APPROVED
.
Glossy chocolate brown delicately mixed with slightly lighter and
darker shades of brown and chocolate. Attractive satiny mint
luster covers all but the highest points of the devices and the
eye appeal is excellent. A tiny flake on the diagonal of the N in
CENT is the best identifying mark. LDS, Breen state VI, with the
upper points of stars 8 & 9 bent towards the rim due to flowline
wear. A nice cent.
Our grade is AU50
. The attribution and
March Wells provenance are noted on the PCGS Label.

1811 S-287 R2 VF30
. Sharpness EF40 or slightly better but
there is an area of fine roughness at UNITED, strongest at ED
where there are specks of raised verdigris. Otherwise the sur-
faces are smooth and very attractive, and the obverse is choice.
Glossy chocolate brown and steel. Sharply struck EDS, Breen
state I. There are no bulges or die clashmarks and the dentils
are sharp. A nice example in spite of the area of minor rough-
ness on the reverse.
