1825 N-9 R2 NGC graded MS64 Brown
. Lustrous mint
red fading to light olive and steel brown. At least 25% of
the obverse shows mint color, 10% of the reverse. (Your
cataloger has seen many with far less mint color in "RB"
holders; this one has to be very close to that designation.)
The only marks are a carbon spot nestled between the
lower left points of star 5, a dull nick low on the neck, and a
spot of slightly darker toning at the bottom of the O in OF.
None of these marks is distracting and the eye appeal of
this cent is excellent. LDS with a fine die crack from the
dentils over star 3 to the forelock and microscopic die rust
on the portrait.
Our grade is MS62
. The attribution and
Rasmussen provenance are noted on the NGC label.
Estimated Value ...............................................$2,500-UP

1826 N-1 R2 EF45
. Beautiful frosty medium chocolate and
steel. Satiny mint luster covers the fields and protected areas
and the eye appeal is outstanding. Nicely struck E-MDS with a
rim cud break at star 6. The diagonal dash just right of the date
is obvious (most likely the remnant of a stray star).

1827 N-7 R3 EF45
. Five points sharper but there is a very
shallow planchet void on the neck and another on the trunca-
tion below (both as struck). Otherwise there are only a few light
contact marks scattered over the obverse. The reverse is choice
and looks mint state. Frosty medium chocolate brown and steel
with lighter steel brown in protected areas. MDS. The two diag-
onal dashes near the dentils right of the second S in STATES are
dull but visible. Graded EF45 by Del Bland. Comes with a nice
provenance.
