1827 N-11 R1 AU55
. Lustrous medium steel brown and light
chocolate with lots of golden tan faded down from mint color in
the fields and protected areas. The only mark is a light horizon-
tal nick close under star 11. Just a hint of rub on the highest
points of the devices. EDS, before any crumbling at the fore-
head and nose. A very attractive cent with mint state eye
appeal.

1828 N-8 R3 EF40
. Frosty medium brown with darker steel
brown toning on the highpoints. An attractive, smooth cent with
light wear and only trivial contact marks. The best identifying
marks are a diagonal nick over the N in ONE and a very thin
diagonal nick on the center dot below that N. Sharply struck
EDS. The reverse is uncracked, the dentils are crisp, and the die
lines under the end of the wreath stem are clear. This is the
plate coin for the die variety in the John Wright reference on the
cents of 1816-1839. Graded EF40 by Del Bland.

1828 N-11 R2 PCGS graded MS63 Brown,
CAC
APPROVED
. Lustrous bluish steel and light olive brown. A very
attractive cent that is covered with satiny mint frost. The only
marks are a tiny nick on the jawline, a couple more on the trun-
cation over the 8, and a spot of slightly darker toning on the
first S in STATES. E-MDS. There are microscopic radial die flow-
lines in the fields near the dentils but the misplaced first S in
STATES (left of the first S in STATES) and the misplaced O in OF
(left of the normal O) are clear. A nice example of this interest-
ing die variety.
Our grade is MS60
