1805 S-267 R1 NGC graded MS62 Brown,

CAC

APPROVED

. Choice lustrous chocolate brown and steel.

The surfaces are covered with satiny mint frost and the eye

appeal of this cent is outstanding. No spots stains, or

roughness. The only notable marks are a tiny planchet chip

on the rim right of the bottom of the neck and another on

the rim behind the head, both as struck. M-LDS, Breen

state III, with a light die crack through the top of AM in

AMERICA and microscopic radial die flowlines in the fields.

Our grade is AU58+, very close to MS60

older generation NGC slab.

. Sharpness EF45 but covered with uni-

form fine to moderate granularity under rather glossy dark

chocolate brown and steel toning. No verdigris or contact marks

other than a small nick near the dentils before the chin. Nicely

struck E-MDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks on both sides

but no swelling. The repunching on the 5 is clear and most of

the dentils are sharp.

. Slightly sharper but there is a small spot

of fine corrosion behind the head and a light rim bruise under

the fraction. Neither defect is significant and the eye appeal of

this piece is outstanding for the grade. Glossy medium choco-

late brown. LDS.

. Glossy light olive brown with hints of

reddish brown toning in protected areas on the obverse and

specks of lighter brown and tan toning in protected areas on the

reverse. The surfaces are perfectly smooth and the eye appeal

of this cent is excellent. A small planchet chip (as struck) in the

field near the rim off the lower end of the hair ribbon is the only

notable mark. LDS, Breen state III, with subtle bulges in the

obverse fields and at the D in UNITED. A very nice example of a

tough die variety.

. Sharpness VF30 with fine

roughness under a glossy dark greenish olive and chocolate

brown patina. Traces of crud or verdigris show in protected

areas, especially on the reverse. No notable contact marks. LDS

with swelling left of the lower curls. Looks better than it might

sound.

Good-5

. Average grade is AG3. Includes 1805 (4), 1806 (5),

and 1807 (4). Many different die varieties with a few duplicates.

Some are sharper with defects but all have a readable date. Lot

of 13 coins.

Large Fraction with an upset reverse (head-to-head) VF25 net

imperfect surfaces. Lot of 2 coins.
