1802 S-232 R1 NGC graded AU58

. Frosty light to medium

olive brown and chocolate with hints of lighter brown and tan in

protected areas on the reverse. Smooth and attractive, void of

any roughness or verdigris. The only marks are a few trivial

nicks, none notable. M-LDS, Breen state V, with light die clash-

marks on both sides and fine die cracks on the reverse. Four

dentils are fused under the 1 in the date.

Our grade is

VF30+, close to VF35

. The attribution is noted on the NGC

label.

1802 S-232 R1 VF35

. Glossy dark chocolate brown and steel

with a few small areas of darker olive brown toning on the

obverse. Smooth and attractive with just a few small contact

marks. The only notable mark is a pinprick in the field off the

upper end of the hair ribbon. LDS, Breen state VII, with a

strong cud break at ATE in STATES.

Trio of 1802 Cents graded VG10

. Includes S-235 R3 MDS

with a cud break at TY in LIBERTY, S-236 R1 MDS, and S-238

R4 M-LDS. All are slightly sharper with minor defects, but all

have a clear date and legends. Lot of 3 coins.

1802 S-238 R4 VF25+

. Sharpness VF35 but there are three

small, light rim bruises on the right side of the obverse and a

few minor nicks in the field behind the portrait. Otherwise this

cent is beautiful, nearly flawless. Attractive glossy medium

chocolate brown with steel brown toning on the highpoints.

Frosty luster shows in protected areas on the reverse. M-LDS,

Breen state IV, with heavy die clashmarks through LIBERTY and

to the right plus several die cracks on the reverse. A nice exam-

ple of this tough die variety in spite of the obverse marks.

1802 S-238 R4 PCGS graded VF35

. Attractive glossy

medium chocolate brown and steel with underlying mint frost in

protected areas on the reverse. There is some minor dirt and a

few contact marks, but the eye appeal is excellent. The notable

marks are three dull nicks on the neck and a thin diagonal nick

hidden in the drapery over the 2 in the date. E-MDS, Breen

state II, with obvious die clashmarks at LIBERTY and several die

cracks on the reverse.

Our grade is VF30 net VF25 for the

minor marks

. At the lower end of the condition census for this

tough die variety.

. Slightly sharper but there are traces of

minor roughness hidden under glossy dark chocolate brown and

steel toning. There is a faint spot of reddish chocolate toning

hidden in the hair under the ribbon and some small contact

marks scattered over both sides. A dull nick on the rim over the

second T in STATES is a good identifying mark. LDS, Breen state

IV. There are strong die clashmarks on both sides and a clear

die crack from the bust to the rim before the eye. Noyes photo

#39422, CC#11 in his condition census for the variety.

Doubled Fraction Bar MDS with a rim cud break over the Y and

to the right VF20 net F12 for microscopic granularity and a light

scratch, and S-256 R3 MDS F12. Both are glossy dark chocolate

brown and steel. The dates and legends are clear. Lot of 2

coins.
