1801 S-219 R2 3-Error Reverse F12
. Sharpness VF20 but
covered with microscopic granularity hidden under mostly
glossy olive brown and steel toning. No verdigris, only a few
trivial contact marks. A thin diagonal nick hidden in the hair
right of the ribbon knot and a couple hairline scratches inside
the wreath are the only notable marks. Nicely struck E-MDS.
The date is strong and all 3 of the die-cutter errors are clear.

1801 S-223 R1 Error Fraction 1/000 VF20
. Ten points
sharper with areas of very fine roughness in the field before the
portrait plus a few more on the reverse while the majority of the
planchet is smooth and attractive. There are traces of verdigris
on the T in LIBERTY and at UNITED. No contact marks. Mostly
glossy dark olive brown and steel with lighter steel brown ton-
ing on the highpoints. M-LDS, Breen state V, with cud breaks at
IB and RT in LIBERTY. The date and legends are strong and the
error fraction feature is obvious.

1801 S-224 R1 PCGS graded VG10,
CAC APPROVED
.
Glossy steel brown and medium chocolate. Smooth and attrac-
tive for the grade, just worn. The only defect is a dull nick in the
field left of the hair ribbon. EDS, Breen state I, showing die
clashmarks but no rim cuds. The strike is soft on the left edge
of the obverse and the opposing area at UNITED, which is com-
mon in the early state for this variety.

1802 S-227 R2 PCGS graded VF35
. Attractive glossy
medium chocolate brown with lighter steel brown toning on the
devices. The only notable defects, and they are invisible to the
unaided eye, are a dozen very tiny pinpricks or pits in the field
over the bust. No verdigris. MDS, Breen state II, with strong die
clashmarks around the portrait.

tact marks, including a dull nick or chip under the chin and a
horizontal nick in the middle of the neck. Glossy chocolate
brown and steel. Nicely struck E-MDS with a fine die crack arc-
