All stars bold, hair curls noticeably better than the curls seen on
many other die varieties this year. The coin clearly has
responded to the full impact from the dies. The Lettered Edge
1836 issues mark the final production using a hand-operated
screw press. New steam press technology was introduced later
in the year and used to strike Reeded Edge 1836 halves. (
