PCGS graded AU-53
. Frosty
and mostly untoned, a most assuredly frosty example. 1835 is
the only time in US history that the government paid off the
national debt. This was done at the insistance of President
Andrew Jackson. Since then, "business as usual" has prevailed.

Untoned. A frosted example with silvery accented surfaces that
shimmer atop the bright and hard-working luster beneath.
Some weakness of strike is seen at the top hair curls, and there
is some minor absence of rim denticles. Stars are, for the most
part, well defined, with their outer points pulled toward the rim.
The mint increased its production this year, when 6,546,200 half
dollars were struck. Twenty-three die varieties are reported.
