1891-CC VAM-3. Top 100 Variety. Spitting Eagle.
.
PCGS
graded MS-64
. Bursting with brilliant frosted luster, this
gleaming near-Gem reveals a bold to sharp strike in all areas.
The surfaces are quite smooth for an example of this condition-
ally challenging Carson City Mint Morgan dollar issue. Easily one
of the most familiar of the VAM varieties featuring a mint-made
die chip near the eagle's beak. (

1892-CC
.
PCGS graded MS-64.
CAC APPROVED.
This is a
fully lustrous Choice Uncirculated example, with largely brilliant
centers that are surrounded with deep russet-gold toning at the
peripheries on each side. A few scattered scuffs and grazes are
present, mostly on the reverse, as are typical for the assigned
grade, however, none are individually notable. The 1892-CC is a
fairly high-mintage date for Carson City, more than 1.3 million
coins, but it was not as well-represented in the GSA sales as
were its counterparts from the early 1880s. The result is this
date is now much more difficult to locate in the higher Mint
State grades. (

Estimated Value ..............................................$2,500 - 2,600

1892-O
.
PCGS graded MS-65+ PQ.
CAC APPROVED.
An important strike rarity in the O-mint Morgan dollar
series, the typical 1892-O is bluntly impressed in the cen-
ters. Not so on the present example, both sides are boldly-
to-sharply defined throughout with a strike that easily
upholds the validity of the Gem Mint State grade. Bright,
frosty-white surfaces are free of both toning and grade-lim-
iting abrasions. A rare opportunity for the advanced Morgan
dollar collector.
Pop 6; 6 finer, 5 in 66, 1 in 67.
