.
PCGS graded MS-65 Prooflike
. Nicely mirrored fields
form a splendid backdrop to sharply struck, well frosted
devices. Both sides are untoned, or virtually so, with a thin line
of rich reddish-russet border color on each side. The surfaces
exhibit the overall smooth appearance that one should expect
for the MS-65 designation.
Pop 30; 1 finer in 66.

1889-O
.
PCGS graded MS-65
. Conditionally scarce at
the Gem level, especially so with such strong luster and
strike as is this coin. The reverse is brilliant while the
obverse shows just a dash of cinnamon color at the top,
but not enough to call this piece anything but a white coin.
Minimal handling marks virtually require magnification to
see, and Liberty's cheek and the nearby fields are fresh and
undiminished by time or bag handling. Currently PCGS has
awarded a mere 188 pieces the Gem grade, with only 18
finer.
Pop 188; 18 finer, 8 in 65+, 10 in 66.

1889-S
.
PCGS graded MS-65
. Wonderful obverse rainbow
toning; the reverse is fully white.A must-see coin for the toning
enthusiast. The '89-S is always a popular date as it may have
come from the Redfield Hoard discovered in the 1970s. (
