.
PCGS graded VF-25
. Popular key date with
attractive surfaces. A lightly toned example of this desirable
key date. Not only is the business strike mintage of 100,000
pieces the lowest in the series, but it is unchallenged in its
rarity in all grades and quite expensive in higher grades.
There is a normal degree of circulation wear seen on this
grade. The borders and legends have full. The cheek and
fields very free from the usual marks, with no overt abra-
sions. (
PCGS # 7226
)
Estimated Value ........................................ $4,700 - 4,900

lar key date. Still a nice looking coin. (

)
Estimated Value ..............................................$2,500 - 2,600

1893-S
.
PCGS graded VG-8
. Mostly untoned. Popular key
date. Simple math explains this date's rarity: only 100,000 were
minted. Most reached circulation. Many (an unknown number)
possibly were melted in the vast Pittman Act destruction where
over 270 million silver dollars went into the melting pots for
export to the United Kingdom as a war measure during the
Great War of 1914-18. (
PCGS # 7226
)
Estimated Value ..............................................$2,000 - 2,200

1894
.
PCGS graded VF-35
. Scarce date and mostly untoned
with natural wear on the high points for its few years in circula-
tion. (It requires several decades in active circulation for a silver
dollar to wear down to only "Good" condition.). (
PCGS #

)
Estimated Value ..............................................$1,000 - 1,050
