undergraded. All coins bear smooth gem surfaces. Some exam-
ples have gorgeous contrast and great eye appeal. Well worth
our conservative estimate. When the Mint Act of Feb. 12, 1873
became law, the silver mine owners'lobby began to protest the
discontinuance of the silver dollar and the limited legal tender of
the trade dollar. Congress listened and obliged, with passage of
the Allison-Bland Act in 1878 authorizing what was to become
the most famous Silver Dollar of them all, the Morgan Dollar, or
as it was called at the time, from Rep. Richard Bland, the
“Bland” dollar. 1878, as the first year, is always popular among
