1895-O PCGS graded Genuine Unc Details
. Altered
Surfaces. Well struck with light gray toning. Clearly elusive
in strictly Uncirculated condition, the 1895-O is one of the
few issues in the Morgan dollar series that approaches the
rarity in Mint State of the legendary 1892-S and 1893-S in
higher grades. All the necessary conditions for an attrac-
tive, high grade dollar seem to have conspired against the
1895-O. The typical coin shows indifferent luster, numerous
abrasions, or a weak strike. This exceedingly smooth-sur-
faced coin has a fine, satiny, indeed a beautiful metallic
sheen over both sides. Liberty’s cheek is also smooth and
free of contact with other coins, with the exception of a sin-
gle almost microscopic tic at the jaw. The coin is almost
fully struck with only the faintest bit of weakness evident
over the ear of Liberty where two hair strands merge,
hardly significant! The eagle's breast feathers are fully
defined and again, this side being free of bagging like the
obverse, is almost pristine looking. The combination of
great eye appeal, strong historic associations, and impres-
sive detail should attract eager bidders. (

1895-O
.
PCGS graded AU-55
. A nice frosty white coin. This
well preserved About Uncirculated 1895 is of the finest order for
its "55" category. The luster is evident in areas, the strike is
nearly full, being quite crisp in most places, a desirable happen-
stance when one considers that dates in the mid-1890s often
were not so well made. (
