(1667-69) Saint Patrick Farthing Breen-218 Griffee
G81-2/0b Rarity 7+ VF20
. Variety with a "Martlet" below
King. Attractive glossy reddish chocolate brown with lighter
brown toning on the devices. No marks or planchet defects. The
only defects are traces of verdigris in protected areas on the
king side. Otherwise this piece is choice, especially for a St. Pat-
rick farthing. The "Martlet" or small bird under the King is clear
and the brass splasher extends from the crown into the face
and chest of the King. Finest of only 5 known to us of this vari-
ety, far superior to the Vlack-Griffee example. Listed on page 41
in the "Redbook." Weight 75.2 grains.

1723 Wood's Hibernia Halfpenny Martin 4.44-Gc.22
Rarity 5 VF20
. Slightly sharper but cleaned and retoning light
bluish steel brown and olive with faded red in protected areas.
Other than the cleaning this piece is flawless. The surfaces are
perfectly smooth and there are no marks. Very late die state
with a long "Horn" break up into the field from the bust and
several die cracks. This piece is clearly later than and superior
to the Martin plate coin for the LDS of this variety. Listed on
page 45 in the "Redbook." Weight 102.2 grains.
