SILVER PENNY (939-946 AD)

Eadmund, King of all England, 939-946 AD

Eastern Midlands mint. “Helmeted” and crowned bust facing right; reverse, cross-crosslet within circle,

legend around, moneyer Telia. Very rare. A fabulous penny on a full flan of good metal with a minor

crack at bottom of reverse, evenly struck with only minor details soft, choice surfaces, sheathed in light

silvery gray patina.

SILVER PENNY (946-955 AD)

Eadred, King of all England, 946-955 AD

No mint name. Crowned portrait facing right; reverse, small cross pattée, moneyer Ive. Rare. Struck on a

broad flan of good metal missing a small chip on border but not touching design, generally well detailed,

the king’s portrait sharp, as are almost all letters of the legends and especially his name, light silvery

gray with luster remaining.

SILVER PENNY (955-959 AD)

Eadwig, King of all England and of Wessex, 955-957 AD, 957-959 AD

Non-portrait, small central cross; reverse, moneyer’s name Heremod in 2 lines divided by 3 crosses, a

trefoil above and below. A choice penny struck on a full broad flan of good metal, with complete beaded

rims, sharply detailed except for a few tiny areas, undisturbed golden gray patina.
