Canterbury mint, moneyer Sigestef. Diademed portrait facing right. Extremely rare. A superb An-
glo-Saxon penny exhibiting a bold portrait and an equally sharp reverse featuring an alpha fashioned
into a cross-crosslet, the legends as bold as on any coin seen of this era, struck on a perfect flan of
good metal, with complete rim beading and undisturbed surfaces sheathed in a magnificent gray patina.

East Anglia mint. Moneyer’s name Werbald in 3 lines. Bare-headed portrait facing right. Extremely rare.
One of the finest preserved coins of this early king, each side boldly struck and outlined in full beaded
rims, made from good metal, with exceptionally choice surfaces showing magnificent ancient grayish
gold patina. A splendid Saxon penny!

Canterbury mint. Diademed portrait facing right; reverse, central monogram within circle, moneyer
Bosel. Rare. Faint wear, sharply struck on both sides, legends bold and easily read, on a broad flan with
complete outer beaded rims, choice surfaces, ancient brownish gray patina. An exceptional example.
