II. Obverse, draped laureate bust right. CAROLVS II DEI GRA-

TIA. Reverse, crowned cruciform shields with interlinked Cs in

angles, garter star in center. VICESIMO TERTIO in raised letters

on edge. Practically mint state with a generous amount of origi-

nal bright mint luster. Very rare thus.

Charles II. By John Roettier. Third laureate draped bust right.

CAROLVS II DEI GRATIA. Reverse, crowned cruciform shields,

six strings to Irish harp. MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX. Edge reads

VICESIMO QVINTO in raised letters. A lightly toned and boldly

struck coin with underlying mint brilliance. Practically uncircu-

lated and very rare in this grade. Catalogues at £6000 (approxi-

mately. $9000) in Extremely Fine.

Pence. Conjoined heads right. Rev. Crowned value within

wreath, date either side of crown, very rare Penny with leg-

end error in King' s name, reading GVIELMVS. Rarest date

in the entire maundy series. Lot of 4 coins.

PRIMO in raised letters. Caul only frosted with pearls. Inverted

die axis. A pretty coin with very little sign of wear, and much

original luster.
