PCGS graded MS-66+.
CAC APPROVED.
A won-
derfully preserved Gem with bold peripheral toning including
mottled sea-blue and rose over deep steel-gray surfaces. Nice
underlying luster gives the piece a lively and pleasant appear-
ance.

PCGS graded Proof 62 Cameo
. Virtually untoned in
the centers but then this handsome coin acquiesces to gentle
shades of golden-brown at the rims. Both sides display the
cameo contrast collectors have long come to associate with
well-struck 19th century proofs. Just a few hairlines are
reported in the fields. Only 800 pieces were minted.

leaves no detail incomplete. Moderately toned and lustrous, one
tiny mark is mentioned on Liberty's cheek.

PCGS graded Proof 66
. Deep irregular cobalt-blue
around the rims fades to mottled orange-gold toward the cen-
ters with a hint of lilac-rose intermixed. These glorious colors
are present equally on the obverse and reverse. The surfaces
are nicely reflective, with no annoying marks or problems, just
strong visual appeal. Outstanding eye appeal and a clear choice
for the date or type collector who needs a solid Gem Proof
Seated quarter.

NGC graded Proof 67 Cameo
. A fully brilliant appear-
ance greets the viewer of this Superb Gem proof example. The
lack of appreciable color allows ready appreciation of bold field-
to-device contrast that readily upholds the Cameo designation
from PCGS. The Superb Gem grade is fully justified; the sur-
faces silky smooth in sheen with no worrisome blemishes. This
Superb Gem is of further importance to specialists given the
low-mintage status of the year's business strike delivery. Only
930 proofs were minted.

PCGS graded Proof 67 Deep Cameo
. The white-
on-black contrast on this Superb Gem proof 1886 Seated
quarter is comparable in quality to the presently issued
Deep Cameo proofs. The surfaces are brilliant snow-white
throughout and practically pristine, with an unimprovable
strike. A tiny mint-made lintmark to the upper left of the
date provides the only pedigree marker. A low-mintage
issue for both business strikes and proofs, 5,000 of the for-
mer, 886 of the latter.

.
PCGS graded Proof 64 Cameo
. The 1887 quarter rep-
resents a low mintage date (10,710 pieces including business
strikes), and is always in demand among Seated coinage spe-
cialists. This survivor of the 710-piece proof production is lightly
toned at the border areas. It also exhibits well impressed fea-
tures, except for minor weakness on a couple of the obverse
stars. A scarcer issue with Cameo contrast.
