PCGS graded Proof 67
. Only 1,039 minted. Lovely
rainbow toning on both sides. The 1883 Proof has always
been an ideal issue for a Type set, sought after because of
the relatively low Proof mintage but also because this year
tends to have been much better produced than some other
years in the series, making the desirable Gem Proofs that
are available all the more desirable to collectors. This spec-
tacular coin is glowing with color throughout and is essen-
tially flawless. The superb devices show a trace of mint
frost which provides a cameo-like veil on each side’s
devices. An exquisite Proof and one of the finer 1883 Mor-
gans we have offered in many sales.
