Antique Coin Purse featuring Roman Coins
.
Very Fine
.
Published in the December 8, 1971 issue of Coin World. Photo-
graphed and described as follows:
"Numismatic antique proba-
bly, but it' s an old coin purse with the issuer named on it;
Security Savings Bank, Portsmouth, Ohio; Geo. D. Selby, Pres.,
Henry. W. Heer, Cash. This we found out: Bank founded in 1903
or 1904. Selby was president until he died in 1927 and Heer
was cashier for the same period, succeeding Selby in 1928 as
president. So the purse was issued no later than 1927. After
Heer' s death and a merger in 1930, the bank was renamed the
Security Central Bank, of which James B. Pugh is now president,
Cyril Grillot of Ohio brought in the purse."
