1917-S. Type 1
.
PCGS graded MS-67 Full Head
. A
spectacular example of this popular San Francisco issue.
The strike is bold throughout, including Liberty' s head and
all the bosses on the shield. Mostly bright silver but with
handsome golden accents noted around the rims and
devices. A loupe finds virtually no signs of handling, and
the surfaces are miraculous in quality. The Type 1 quarters
were only issued for a few months before the demand went
out to change the design and cover Liberty' s exposed
breast. Sadly this was done and the Type 2 style was born.
This coin is a true delight.

handsome example of this rare and desirable mint blunder.

.
PCGS graded MS-64
. Lovely golden toning on both
sides. The head is ¾ full but the leaves just are not quite 100
percent. A desirable example of this tough San Francisco issue,
and one which many date collectors lack as these are elusive
and hard to find so attractive. Notice the frosty luster and deli-
cate gold glaze on both sides, which combine to make this
example highly appealing and desirable! (

NGC graded MS-65 Full Head
. A nice frosty white
coin. A few reverse marks that blend well into the silver white
patina, with a sharp strike that is worthy of consideration by any
specialist. A scarce issue, especially at the gem grade level.
