Mixed
multicolored iridescence is slightly more extensive and
deeper on the reverse, and both sides are accented with
intermitting hues of red, pink, green, and dove-gray. A full
strike delineates the design features, and both sides are
immaculately preserved. This one is tied with 33 others at
PCGS as the finest graded.
Pop 34; none finer at PCGS.

1940-S
.
PCGS graded MS-66+.
CAC APPROVED.
Lovely
blue and lilac toning over the obverse, the reverse is brilliant.
The satin-like luster is almost unimpaired by abrasions of any
size on this pristine specimen from the San Francisco mint. The
strike is crisp in most areas, as well, though some lack of detail
may be noted at Liberty's hand and on the eagle's leg, both
being centered at the highpoints of the design where the results
of striking often fail to show completely. Very scarce in this high
grade.
Pop 36; 11 finer, 9 in 67, 2 in 67+
. (
PCGS # 6610
)
Estimated Value ..............................................$1,100 - 1,200

The PCGS holder is
mislabeled as a 1942.
Boldly impressed with exceptional
reflectivity. Areas of natural mottled patina add color to this oth-
erwise brilliant piece. Housed in a First Generation Holder.
