PCGS graded Proof 65 Cameo
. A brilliant coin
showing ample contrast for the Cameo designation and glo-
rious frost on the devices. The surfaces are undiminished
by time or handling, and this example offers outstanding
appeal. Although these final years of Gold Dollar production
saw the number of Proofs struck increase dramatically,
many went to non numismatic sources and hence are actu-
ally quite elusive in high Gem grades like this. A simply
stunning example that will dazzle any collector every time it
is viewed. Only 1,105 struck.
Pop 2; 3 finer in 66.

Some luster
still evident on both sides. A very nice looking coin and one
of the lowest mintages of any regular issue United States
coin. Very rare. Only 480 struck, and today it is estimated
that a mere 25 exist. Waiting for another example may
require considerable patience. The obverse is sharply struck
along with the reverse. There are moderate adjustment
marks criss-crossing on the reverse. A classic numismatic
rarity that should appeal to any collector who appreciates
all the history of this elusive issue.

1834. No motto
.
PCGS graded MS-61. PQ
. Semi reflective
fields with satin luster on the devices. This is the first year of
issue of the Classic Head design that slightly reduced the
amount of gold contained in the $2.50 cent planchet. Prior to
the introduction of these reduced size quarter eagles, the value
of gold in the coin actually exceeded the stated value, hence
most of the prior style heavier coins were melted. A popular
issue when found in true Mint State like the present offering.
