. An outstanding example of the
popular "Porthole" design type, so-called because of the
circular border around Lincoln' s portrait that conveys the
impression that he is peering out of a ship' s window. The
colors, inks, and paper quality are nearly flawless on this
exceptional example, and the centering and margins are
well above average as should be expected for the grade.
This is one of just a half-dozen examples of this note that
PCGS has graded 67PPQ, with just two notes (a pair of 68s)
any finer. It comes from a serial number run of high grade
pieces that were saved long ago, likely as a part of a bank'
s cash reserves. Collectors today can thank the farsighted
dealers and collectors of decades ago who rescued these
notes for hobbyists to enjoy today.

Very Choice New 64PPQ.
A tremendous example of this
classic type note. A prohibitively wide bottom margin makes the
top margin look thin.
