Exquisitely toned with mottled gold, blue-green, and russet
and traces of silver-gray remaining. The appearance is very
attractive and very original. Nicely struck and exhibiting
superb luster on both sides. Among the finest survivors,
and for any collector seeking the date, who also appreci-
ates beautiful toning, this might be the very best survivor.
The Mint at Denver Colorado struck a total of just over 4
million Barber dimes in 1907, the second year of coinage
operations at that facility. Small change was badly needed
in the West at that time and the coins circulated heavily
when released. Few examples were saved by contemporary
collectors. As a result, research has shown the 1907-D is
one of the most difficult Denver Mint issues of the series to
locate in Mint State conditions, especially as a Superb Gem.

A richly
lustrous Gem with outstanding aesthetic appeal and a colorful
overlay of turquoise-blue, sea-green, and antique-golden hues
on both sides. We note only four examples of the date have
been graded finer by PCGS. An especially desirable example for
the collector who appreciates beautiful toning.

PCGS graded Proof 67
. Richly and deeply toned in
vivid intermingled green, gold, crimson-rose, sunset-gold, and
powder-blue. A splendid Superb Gem having lightly frosted
motifs and blazing mirror fields, not quite enough to qualify as a
Cameo. Fully struck in all areas. Only 545 proof Barber dimes
were struck during the year.

NGC graded MS-67
. The lowest production of
all Denver Mint Barber dimes was the 954,000 piece deliv-
ery of the 1909-D. Both sides are toned in coruscant red-
dish-golden hues, and the frosted luster is complemented
with a bold strike throughout. A couple of tiny abrasions on
the obverse are hidden by the toning. This is tied as the fin-
est 1909-D dime certified by both of the major grading ser-
vices. An amazing coin that is nearly impossible to replace.
Pop 2; none finer at NGC. Tied for the finest graded
by both services
