liam III. Obverse, third bust variety. Similar to the regular third
bust but the dies have been recut and the king' s hair varied a
little. The tie is slightly longer and thinner than on the normal
third bust. Reverse; Crowned cruciform shields around the lion
of Nassau at center. Third harp, scroll front and back. Edge:
DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI DVODECIMO in raised let-
ters. A beautifully struck uncirculated specimen with much orig-
inal underlying mint luster under a light tone. The reverse is
slightly more toned. The 1700 Crown is scarcer than the 1695
and 1696, although all William III Crowns are truly rare in uncir-
culated grades.
