. Lovely blue and golden toning on both sides. Finest Cer-
tified for its variety. This is the Pointed 6, Stem Through Claw variety and is one which, because it is listed in the Guide Book, those assem-
bling Variety Sets of Bust Half Dollars will need to complete the set. This extensively used Obverse die, which is paired to various reverses
from O-118 all the way to O-122, is in its middle to late die state. There are numerous die breaks which are noted in Overton. The plainest are
at star 1 to the lowest curl, and along the upper stars on left curving into the hair wave at the top of the head. On the reverse, all five berries
have stems, and AM meet at their bases and ME nearly touch. The eagle’s beak is buried in the upper side of the star point. This remarkably
beautiful and original toned example has smooth fields, patina that must have taken a hundred years at least to form, possibly longer, with
steel-blue rim toning and light golden russet centers. A bold (for the issue) and beautiful near-Gem.
