NGC graded Proof 67 Cameo
. Fully white Gem Proof
Cameo. Only 880 minted. The silvery luster on both sides is full
with a somewhat satin texture on the cameo-frosted devices,
but whose field is beyond amazing to amazingly amazing! This
is a decidedly well-struck example, in other words, and one with
razor-edged details. Like most 1890s decade Proofs which were
struck on the Mint's hydraulic press, it is one to admire. (Seated
Liberty Proofs to about 1880, curiously, were said to have been
struck using an old screw press at the Mint, but in that year or
close to it, Philadelphia's medal press was “pressed into” service
for the Proofs.) Superb in every detail, this 1895 Barber Quarter
has no bothersome spots or points of contention, which one
expects from the superb PR67 grade; nor did the dies leave
behind anything less than a bold, rigid impression whose mag-
nificence reveals itself in the stars, the legends, and especially
in the center motifs.

. Lovely
lavender and blue iridescent toning. A beautiful, frosty-
white Gem augmented by snowy luster which serves to
magnify the coin's brilliant arc of gleaming blue and laven-
der toning, there are no unsettling bagmarks on either side.
The reverse illuminated by a ring of the same colors with
light silvery moon glow right smack dab in the center. In
the period in which this Barber coin was made, weak strikes
predominate on the branch mint coinage, but Philadelphia’s
production standard was second to none. That is why it is a
pleasure to report a strike with preciseness only now and
then found.

PCGS graded Proof 68 Deep Cameo
. Well struck
and a blazing gem. Only 735 minted. Clean as a whistle, as
one would look forward to from the astounding Proof 68
grade; however, what truly breaks this Barber Quarter free
from other Proofs is the swirling mirror finish luster that
rolls around each side At the same time that the luster blos-
soms, substantial frosted relief detail reveals itself on the
highpoints of Liberty, the eagle, and the tops of the stars,
date digits and lettering of this extraordinary example.
