. A perfect coin. Comes
with the original box and booklet of issue. The 2009 Ultra High
Relief Double Eagle is a 21st century design in which original
Saint-Gaudens 1907 coin plasters were digitally mapped by the
United States Mint. Using a digital design and die-making pro-
cess, the Saint-Gaudens sculpture -- in ultra high relief -- was
updated to reflect the year 2009, an additional four stars were
added to represent the current 50 states, and the inscription "In
God We Trust" appears, which was not on the original 1907 ver-
sion.
Additionally, a small border was added for the edge. The 2009
coin is made of 24-karat gold, pure gold being much more mal-
leable than 22-karat or 90% gold coins were, according to the
Mint, making it better material for striking the ultra high design.

. Nice even golden toning. What is most in full view
when we examine this handsome Grant Memorial Gold Dollar is
its thick, rolling mint luster -- it swirls over each side unhindered
by abrasions and free of even a trace of toning. A superb bright
golden yellow coin of outstanding beauty and importance to the
Commemorative collector as well as to any interested in general
US gold coinage. From the luster, we next take stock of the
details of Grant’s profile. Given the proper amount of strike
pressure, the coin was fully brought up by the dies. This issue is
struck with and without a small star above Grant’s name.
