. A
nice untoned coin. Only 12,367 struck and this is consid-
ered America' s most beautiful coin. The struggle to create
these coins is one of the most historic battles to occur
within thePhiladelphia Mint' s walls. Famed sculptor Augus-
tus Saint-Gaudens received the commission to redesign our
country' s gold coinage directly from President Teddy Roos-
evelt. Roosevelt had gone entirely around the Mint' s staff
of talented engravers and coiners. Naturally they formed a
wall of resistance to coining these new, and conceptually
crazy coins. They simply were not made for the modern
coining presses. Furthermore, each High Relief gold coin
took up to seven strikes to bring up these incredible
designs. Eventually these designes were struck, but in lim-
ited numbers. These amazing High Relief coins are the clos-
est to his original concept that most collectors can aspire to
own. This splendid Gem will always turn heads and receive
strong admiration from anyone who has the opportunity to
see it.

. Light gold tone and well struck with
incredible three dimensional depth, an artistic triumph what
has yet to be surpassed by any coin design. These powerful
features on the obverse and reverse stand tall and a testa-
ment to the genius of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, a well
known sculptor of his day. However, transferring his stills as
a sculptor into coin making required considerable ingenuity.
His goal, and that of President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt
was achieved, that such a coin could be conceived and
struck for circulation. Finding this issue in Gem grades has
always been a challenge, as so few collectors could resist
examining these coins, there is almost always some degree
of cabinet friction and handling marks. If you have been
seeking a glorious example of this treasured issue, then
here is one to pursue.A coin that is always in demand. Only
11,250 struck. (
