1882-CC Paritial Collar. MINT ERROR
.
NGC graded MS-
65
. A lovely white gem example that is not only a poplar Carson
City issue but a prized Mint Error! Morgan dollars, although
struck in vast numbres, were incredibly well made in that so few
mint errors are known. The coining equipment and the inspec-
tion process must have been really stepped up to have caught
the normal mint blunders before they escaped the mint and
entered circulation. Considering the numbers produced for this
series, it is truly a testament to quality control that so few errors
escaped into collectors hands. Thus the collectors who seek an
example of an error from this series, really have to fight for one
of these when it appears. Add in the gem quality of this coin,
the Carson City mintmark and the partial collar error and you
have a combination that will make every other collector jealous!
Destined for an advanced collection.
