The decade from 1927 to 1937 was called the "Golden 10
Years" of the Republic of China. The wars and civil conflicts
since 1840 stopped temporarily in these 10 years. China got a
chance to rebuild the domestic economy and modernize the
industrial structure. During this period of time, Shanghai
emerged to be the new financial center of Far East. Due to the
recovery of the domestic economy, the confidence of investors
came back, and bonds and other financial products issued by
the government or other financial institutions started to become
popular.
The 3 bonds offered here were issued at the beginning of this
great recovery, with the signature of the famous finance minis-
ter T. V. Soong (also known as Song Ziwen or Paul Soong), who
earned international reputation for financing the American Mer-
cenary Group --- the "Flying Tigers" during the later war against
Japan. Would be great addition to collectors who loves the fas-
cinating history of Republic of China.
