Silver. Screwback. Comes with original silver screwback nut. Variation with

hand-engraved “монетный двор” mintmark below the screw and serial number at

6 o’clock. Extremely Rare

Regimental Unit Award. Type 3. Award # 23802.

Silver. Type 3, screwback. Comes with original temporary certificate and original

receipt of temporary certificate confirming this order to be awarded to the 1170

th

Light Artillery “Brandenburg” “Red Banner” “Order of B.Khmelnitsky” “Order

of A.Nevsky” Regiment, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of

the USSR. Date of decree is February 19, 1945. Award number is specified on

both documents.

Not a lot is known about 1170

th

Regiment. According to documents and available

sources, its’ last WWII commander was Colonel Malahov. During the war, it was

part of 197

th

Artillery “Lodzinsky” “Order of Suvorov” “Order of Kutuzov”

Brigade, 1

st

Guards Tank Army, 1

st

Belorussian front. However, by some accounts,

the Brigade was decommissioned in November, 1946, other accounts state that the

Brigade was still listed as active in mid-1950’s. No accounts have it as active

beyond that.

Extremely rare documented UNIT AWARD.

Elusive in private hands.

Condition:

Superficial scratches on the enamel, perfect otherwise with

most of the gold plating still visible under even gray patina.
