band over curled hair; club over shoulder and lion’s skin secured by knotted paws at truncation. Rev.
META to left, six-grained barley ear with leaf to right; kantharos above leaf, BI below. Johnston Class
D4.2 (same dies); Noë/Johnston D 4.2; Rutter, Historia Numorum 1621. Boldly struck in high relief,
strike a little weak on grain ear. The work of a master die engraver.
Rare.

on a dotted exergual line, VM in exergue. Rev. similar type incuse (SNG ANS 874; SNG Ashmolean 848;
HN Italy 1736). In a very good state of preservation for this issue, attractive old cabinet toning. Nearly
