F. on truncation, Latin legend around. This utilizes the obverse of a medal

commemorating the visit of Peter the Great to the Paris Mint nearly one hundred

years before (See Lot 2053 above). Some light hairlines. Lustrous, deep birch

brown.

within wreath. There is a prize medal of the Imperial Moscow Agricultural Society,

ca. 1825 (Diakov 435.3) very similar to this medal. This medal, though, deliberately

omits the word “ИMПEPATOPCKOE” (

Imperial

).
