All of her coins having been struck by her son Claudius, Antonia was one of the Imperial ladies whose personal life intimately touched many
historically important lives. Her parents were Mark Antony and Octavia; she married Nero Claudius Drusus, mothered Germanicus and was the
grandmother of Caius (Caligula).

chocolate brown patina. Rare. Nice strong portrait of this impor-
tant Imperial woman.

.
Antonia, younger daughter of Mark Antony and Octavia, niece
of Augustus and married to Nero Claudius Drusus and had two
sons, Germanicus and the future emperor Claudius. Antonia
died in AD 37, at the age of 73, many speculated by her grand-
son Caligula. Nonetheless, she recieved no honors until after
her son Claudius became emperor and struck coinage early in
his reign.

in exergue, emperor seated left on curule chair, holding branch
and roll; below, weapons and armor on either side of globe. RIC
109; BMC 208; Cohen 8. Struck on a huge flan and well cen-
tered. We note tooling and smoothing in the fields, nonetheless,
quite attractive with uniform glossy dark brown patina.
