deep incuse square. Wonderful transitional style.

There is considerable variety in the designs of Athenian coins classified by Starr in his Group V, the largest of all his groupings. This tet-
radrachm falls in his last subdivision, subgroup B, series 5, and thus places it right before the massive Classical frontal eye type of the latter
half of the 5th century BC.
